On Monday, November 25th, it’s time once again to wear orange!
For the fourth consecutive year, CERTEGO is joining the global recognition of Orange Day – a day when the UN invites the world to take a stand against violence towards women. Orange symbolizes a future free from violence, filled with light and optimism.
On November 25th, which was declared the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women by the UN General Assembly in 1999, people wear orange, and famous landmarks are illuminated in the same color to show their support. CERTEGO is once again participating with commitment in this important campaign.
Throughout November – "Orange Month" – activities are held to increase knowledge about this violence and its consequences, aiming to prevent and stop it. UN Women Sweden also conducts campaigns and fundraising efforts to enhance resources for UN Women’s global work against violence.
CERTEGO shares the positive and hopeful message of the color orange. We fully support efforts for a gender-equal world where violence has no place, and where men and women meet on equal terms.
Alarming Statistics: One in Three Women is Subjected to Violence
One in three women globally is subjected to physical or sexual violence – a grave violation of human rights that affects women regardless of nationality, social class, or age. Challenges like war, climate crises, and pandemics such as COVID-19 have worsened the situation, especially for women in crisis situations and those fleeing their homes. Economic insecurity exacerbates their vulnerability, affecting societies both socially and economically and hindering sustainable development. Achieving a just world requires initiatives to stop this violence.
Despite the challenges, there is hope. Commitment is growing, seen in increased investments, improved legislation, and preventive measures. UN Women has strengthened policy work in 57 countries and intensified its efforts in 2022, reaching nearly three million women. Their focus is on supporting survivors, preventing violence, and changing harmful norms in collaboration with organizations, municipalities, governments, and private actors.
Through its UNTF fund, UN Women provides direct support to grassroots organizations actively working against violence.
How CERTEGO Makes a Difference
CERTEGO supports UN Women’s work and has launched a fundraising campaign open to anyone who wants to contribute. Internally, we also share information about the day and how to act if one suspects violence or vulnerability nearby.
We encourage our employees to be aware of their responsibilities as fellow human beings and work against harmful norms and behaviors, both at work and in their private lives.
Through collective efforts, we can strengthen safety, prevent violence, and show care for one another.
