The store manager, Susanne Pettersson, at CERTEGO in Västra Frölunda, is working to make the business more sustainable.
Since Susanne Pettersson started at CERTEGO in Västra Frölunda three years ago, she has already made several significant improvements to the store's daily operations. With her technical expertise and sharp eye for efficiency, she has ensured that the store can operate more cost-effectively and in an environmentally friendly way.
When Susanne joined CERTEGO, she quickly realized that small adjustments could make a big difference, both economically and from a sustainability perspective. One example is how the store manages key manufacturing. Previously, keys were made to order and set aside for customers to collect later. The problem was that some keys were never picked up, leading to waste—both in time and materials.
Susanne introduced a simple but effective change: waiting to manufacture the key until the customer is present. "It only takes five minutes to make a key, and most customers can wait that short time," she explains. With this change, the store has reduced waste of key blanks and saved resources that would otherwise have gone to waste.
To improve the work environment, Susanne and her colleagues in Västra Frölunda reorganized the store's machine room. Previously, the machines were in the open, contributing to high noise levels in the store, which could negatively affect both employees and customers. Susanne suggested a change where the machines were moved into a dedicated room, significantly improving noise levels and creating a calmer work environment.
In addition, she has also worked to reduce the store's paper usage. Susanne explains that they now strive to keep as much information digital as possible, so that paper does not need to be printed unnecessarily. "Reducing the number of printouts may seem like a small thing, but it makes a big difference for both costs and the environment in the long run," says Susanne.
In summary, Susanne is an excellent example of how small changes and conscious decisions can contribute to a more sustainable and efficient workplace. Her initiatives have not only created a better work environment for her colleagues but have also allowed the store to operate more effectively.
